One of the best things to come from South Korea is the Kia Rio, and this year’s model is something exciting to drive. Getting behind the wheel of one of these beauties is like a dream come true - the hatchback is actually not that small; in fact, it has a lot to offer.
In comparison to other hatchbacks on the street, the Rio is affordable and beautiful – so getting one means you are killing two birds with one stone. Over the years the Rio’s shape has changed a lot, but recently it has settled with one and personally, I love it.
The exterior might only have received a few minor upgrades, but in the end it is the inside that matters most. The Rio has a spacious cabin and can accommodate your tall friends in the back. It has a total luggage space of 325 litres.
Apart from the stylistic interior, it has a touch screen infotainment system, so you can have fun connecting various devices to it. The Rio offers a smooth drive and the handling only takes a few seconds to get used to.
Under the bonnet you will find a 1.4l turbo engine and it gives out 74 kW and 135 Nm. It might not be the fastest hatchback on the market, but it packs a decent punch when needed. To increase the comfort of car’s ride it comes with a six-speed gearbox.
The Kia Rio has a great fuel consumption at 4.8 litres per 100km, but we do feel that there is room for improvement.It also features various safety features like ABS with EBD and six airbags. Some models also include a rear-park assist system with an integrated rear-view camera and rain-sensing windscreen wipers.
