The New Nissan Micra

Gone are the days of the Nissan Micra looking like a Pokémon creature that didn’t make the cast. The 2018 Micra has pizazz and it is the car you WANT to be in!

Nissan has completely redesigned the Micra; creating a car that will stand firmly against its rivals. Although the price has seen an adjustment, it is still for the budget conscious working sector.

The Micra is longer and wider than the previous shapes and now features more modern styling, both exterior and interior, that will suit the younger crowds.

All 2018 Micra derivatives are powered by a Renault-sourced 0.9-litre, 3-cylinder turbopetrol engine offering 66 kW and 140 Nm of torque which is mated to a smooth 5-speed manual transmission. Nissan claims 5.1 L/100 km in ideal driving conditions.

Regarding the interior, the Micra Acenta comes equipped with a 7-inch infotainment system that offers Bluetooth, USB/MP3 playback and Apple CarPlay.

The steering wheel is equipped with mounted controls for the standard cruise control, audio and multifunction display. Safety is sorted with 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The load bay is reasonably-sized at 300 litres, which expands to 1 004 litres with the 60:40 seats folded down. So probably ideal for the younger family, but not so much for the family who takes along everything plus the kitchen sink.

All in all, we think the new Micra is ideal for city dwellers who would like to hit up the Namibian coast from time to time.
