DRIFTING GALORE

Garwin Beukes - It isn't everyday that Namibia is treated with cars intentionally sliding sideways around a track for fun.

Four drifters - Riaan Kritzinger from Namibia in his V8 Lumina Ute; Richard Slamet, a Namibian ralley champion, in his R32 Nissan Skyline; Vic Pardal from South Africa in his 2jz powered BMW E36; and Issuffo Ussuman from Mozambique in his R33 Nissan Skyline.

These four competitors lit up the Tony Rust race track and had people on their toes.

Due to the extremely hot temperatures on the day, drifting was limited to a few runs only. At around sunset the boys returned to the track and gave the fans a memory not soon to be forgotten.

Performances were made by Total Drift Mania, Endurance Race and local spinners.

While the drifters prepared for their performances, local spinners in their E30 Bmw's and other modified vehicles, popped tyres and made burnouts to keep the crowd hyped.

One of the organizers, Warren Thomas, said they want to grow drifting in Namibia and get more partners on board. He also thanked Total and other sponsors that made the day a success.
